Local portrait artist Keets Taylor has a new work on display at Bubba’s Barbecue, just off Interstate 77 at Exit 16 (4400 Sunset Road). Outgoing Mecklenburg County Commissioner Parks Helms and former commissioner Jim Puckett posed for the acrylic-on-plywood work, titled “Bubba’s - Name of the Game.”

New COO, doctors at Lake Norman Regional Medical
Andrew Tatnall is the new chief operating officer at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He comes to the Mooresville facility following his post as senior vice president, operations division for WellStar Health System in Marietta, Ga.

“Andrew brings substantial health care experience in hospital operations, physician relations and growth strategies for ambulatory services to our organization,” Mike Cowling, CEO of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, said in a statement.

In other personnel news, the medical center announced the hiring of two new hospitalists – doctors who treat patients admitted to the hospital but do not conduct outpatient appointments. They are Michelle Ong, a board-certified internal medicine physician with additional qualifications in geriatrics, and Jorge Paulino, also board-certified in internal medicine with specialized certification in hyperbaric medicine and problem wound management.

Acupuncture clinic opens
AcuCare Clinic has opened in Denver, offering treatments including acupuncture, Chinese and other Asian herbal formulas, and therapeutic massage. Licensed acupuncturist Abe Rummage was previously the owner of Abe Rummage Massage Therapy, which operated inside Phoenix Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, also in Denver. Debbie Hopper will be manager and patient coordinator.

Web site aims to promote bargains
LKN Savings has launched www.lknsavings.com, a site aimed at consumers and local businesses in the Lake Norman area. The site selectively highlights local business promotions and events weekly.

Local residents Lori Frascati and Jennifer Cochrane co-founded the site. “We recognized that the Lake Norman area would benefit from an easily accessible resource that captures all available business promotions and events in one place, especially given current economic conditions,” they said in a statement.
